Founded in 1993, EnviroTrac Ltd. is a New York State Corporation. EnviroTrac's associated design company, EnviroTrac Engineering P.E., P.C. is a registered New York State Professional Engineering firm. EnviroTrac is privately held and governed by a Board of Directors.
EnviroTrac's executive leadership team includes the following people.
Joseph Patrick Byrnes – President and Chief Executive Officer
As founder of EnviroTrac, Mr. Byrnes is the CEO and President. Joe received his BS degree in Geology from SUNY Binghamton in 1984 and in 1993 he obtained an MS degree in Hydrogeology from SUNY Stony Brook. His professional career spans over 30 years.
When Joe graduated from college in the early 1980’s the environmental field was very young and jobs were hard to come by. While working as a carpenter in the residential construction field Joe got his first opportunity with Roux Associates and was hired to travel the US and sample rivers and creeks for herbicides. Since then he has been fortunate to work on just about every type of environmental project involving a wide variety of contaminants and remedial techniques. Over the past few years his most exciting projects were investigating a large jet fuel spill in Bermuda and installing remediation systems for a Federal Superfund site in Wichita. Joe’s goals are to continue to grow EnviroTrac organically as an industry leader and diversify our clients. Joe states, “It is very important to me that our employees have the opportunity to grow with the company, that they are professionally challenged and most importantly have fun.”
Although Joe has corporate responsibilities, he is very active in project related work, including development of remedial strategies and the implementation of final remedies. Joe is a Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) in Connecticut, Certified Professional Geologist (CPG) and holds Professional Geologist (PG) licenses in several States (NH, PA, NC, VA and FL).
John Buhagiar – Chief Financial Officer
John Buhagiar is the Chief Financial Officer of EnviroTrac Ltd. He received his BS degree in accounting from the St. John’s University College of Business Administration in NY. He has 33 years of professional experience as a Certified Public Accountant and has provided consulting services to environmental, real estate and construction firms. John is responsible for financial planning, record keeping and financial reporting to the banks, bonding companies and management. He has worked closely with EnviroTrac over the past decade to help the firm accomplish its growth throughout the United States. EnviroTrac continues to grow through the teamwork of its dedicated staff.
Theodore F. Masters – Vice President
Mr. Masters is the New York Regional Operations Manager and serves as a member on the Board for EnviroTrac. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in geology at SUNY Binghamton in 1986 and has been consulting for over 28 years for both private and public sectors.
Beginning his career at Roux Associates in 1988 and joining EnviroTrac in 1994 he has experienced a diverse environmental industry portfolio to include: industrial manufacturing plants; pharmaceutical chemical companies; agricultural chemical manufactures; petroleum refining and bulk storage facilities; nuclear energy; property development; vapor intrusion; brownfields; and, property transfer and voluntary cleanup programs. Ted has been sharing his industry experience with the academic community through volunteer work with students and professors at local universities and colleges. He enjoys the many challenges and variety that the environmental consulting field and working at EnviroTrac are about. Ted is proud of the staff’s ability to work together to build a strong, innovative and safe company.
Ted is currently working on a several Connecticut projects as a Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) and enjoys the challenges at bringing sites into compliance with Connecticut’s remediation standards. In addition to being a LEP in Connecticut, he holds Professional Geologist (PG) licenses in Pennsylvania and New Hampshire.
John Ferrill – Vice President
John Ferrill is a professional geologist with more than 30 years of experience in providing technical expertise and regulatory insight for both public and private clients. John studied geology at The Colorado College, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1984. John worked in the environmental/oil industry for several years then returned to graduate school, graduating with a master’s degree in environmental science and engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 1993. He has been working as a geologist/environmental consultant since 1985, joining EnviroTrac when they opened their Florida operations in 1996. John manages EnviroTrac’s Florida and Georgia operations and provides technical support though out the Gulf region. His background includes working as a consultant with petroleum, regulatory and industrial clients in addition to construction related services. John specializes in providing support and technical assistance pertaining to a broad range of environmental issues, including site assessment, remediation and regulatory compliance and maintains the following licenses: Florida Professional Geologist / Florida Pollutant Storage Systems Contractor.
Douglas Lessing – Vice President
Mr. Lessing earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering (BSPE) from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio in 1984. Doug has over 30 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry. Doug started in the industry in 1987 working as a geologist for a small environmental firm in New Jersey. Doug then moved to Handex Environmental in 1989 where he began as a Hydrogeologist and worked his way up to General Manager of their New Jersey operations. Doug moved to EnviroTrac in August of 2004 where he manages the South Plainfield, New Jersey office as a Vice President and Regional Operations Manager. Doug specializes in Business Development, Client Services, Money Management, and Staff Development. Doug maintains the following Licenses: NJ Subsurface Evaluator / Closure License and New Jersey N-2 Operators License.
Elizabeth Girsch – Human Resources Manager
Elizabeth Girsch is the HR Manager for EnviroTrac Ltd. She studied marketing and communications at Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 2004. She also holds a certificate in HR Management from the University of South Florida. Liz joined the EnviroTrac team in November 2005. She started out working as an assistant to the CFO and has worked her way through many different developmental roles here at ET. Liz is currently responsible for guiding and managing the overall provisions of our Human Resources policies, services and programs. Her core competencies include effective recruitment and staffing, employee relations and retention, organizational and employee development, compensation and benefits, payroll, and regulatory compliance. Liz states “I strive to provide quality HR services to attract, develop, motivate and retain a diverse workforce within a supportive and fair working environment. My main goal is to make sure our employees are happy and that the company continues to be prosperous.”
Mark Skrobacz – Vice President, Pennsylvania Office
Mark Skrobacz, a Pennsylvania and Virginia licensed professional geologist, has over 29 years experience providing technical consulting and business operations expertise. Mark graduated in 1987 from The Pennsylvania State University with a Geosciences degree and an emphasis in petroleum and natural gas exploration. As Vice President and member of EnviroTrac’s Board of Directors, his key responsibilities include: project delivery and client service; strategic revenue growth and expansion through existing and new business markets; profitability; the recruitment, management, leadership and development of the project teams; fostering and ensuring a safe and healthy work environment; and developing strategic and innovative programs for the continuation of EnviroTrac’s success. Mark is a poised professional with excellent communication and negotiation skills, adept at providing advice and counseling to team members, lead and collaborate on technical issues, and developing new business opportunities. He specializes in program development; due diligence; site characterization and assessments; remediation; regulatory consulting; and innovative contract development and negotiation. Mark manages the day to day operations with the Warrendale, Lock Haven, and Ottsville, Pennsylvania offices, and currently leads our energy market initiatives within the Marcellus and Utica shale unconventional shale gas formations.
